Chapter Five
In chapter five we talk about using tools to
support connected learning. It goes on to express the importance of bookmarking
and archiving as tools in this. It mentions tools such as Delicious and Diigo
for these purposes. In this chapter they mention that in the early days of the
web one may have used bookmarking through the web browser. This is quite funny
to me because I still use this resource. It is mostly how I keep track of
important websites and other things that I do not want to lose track of. I
wonder where I have been to not know about these new ways of documenting. This
chapter was honestly eye-opening to me and informative in things I was not
aware of.
The next thing chapter five talks about is the
tools for connecting. These include various things such as blogs, podcasts,
wiki websites, and more. This chapter also talks about social networking for
educators as well as tools for extending learning in the classrooms. This can
be used through various websites and apps. Although this chapter concentrates
on these tools for educators there are equivalent tools for other career fields.
There are many tools to
support connectivity in the field of social work as well. Having tools to
support connectivity in social work is extremely important. A social worker who
is not connected will not be very effective in their field. Whether this be
through Zoom, LinkedIn, or a variety of other tools, it is very helpful to a
social worker. To better help others as well as to be more aware of the
resources out there and reach more people, tools to support connectivity are extremely
important. These tools can be those that will assist with better connecting other social workers as well as connecting social workers to clients and people in need.
